Tinny Trips
As a Riverlander moments like these are plentiful.
We all know the trip… Woolshed to the boat ramp, somewhere around Renmark, Ral Ral and Lock 5. It’s always around 5pm on a perfect summers day. Merry bellies full of pink lemonade and summer ale.
It’s golden hour - when the cliffs sing, the air is sweet and the sun throws diamonds on the water.
It’s either - completely calm and silent, or belly laughs and cans, the purr of the boat and the smell of fumes on muddy water.
It’s the mirrored reflections that make you feel like you’re flying through the sky. Upside down. The water like glass.
It’s sinking your toes down in the grains of a sandbar at sundown. Water warm and dancing mid cal. Cracking another coldy - looking across at the view and thinking … Fuck, how goods this…
Riverlanders all know moments like these and views like this.
This is my take on that feeling.
How lucky this is home.
